1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Grittie LLC ("Grittie", "we", "us"), governing your use of the Grittie mobile application, website, and junk-removal marketplace services (collectively, the "Services"). By creating an account or using the Services you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

2. The Services

Grittie is a marketplace that connects customers who need junk removed ("Customers") with independent drivers who haul it away ("Drivers"). Grittie is not a hauling company; Drivers are independent contractors, not employees or agents of Grittie. Grittie does not guarantee that a Driver will accept any particular pickup request.

3. Accounts & Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Services. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information on your account and for keeping your credentials secure. You may delete your account at any time from the app's profile screen; deletion anonymizes your personal information while order records are retained for bookkeeping and legal compliance.

4. Pickups, Pricing & Payment

Prices for pickup options are shown before checkout and charged when you book. Payment is processed by Stripe; Grittie does not store your card details. Items must be placed curbside or as described in the pickup option you select. Additional or materially different items than those booked may be refused by the Driver.

5. Cancellations & Refunds

You may cancel a pickup that has not yet been claimed by a Driver, in which case your payment is refunded in full to your original payment method. Pickups that go unclaimed for several days are automatically cancelled and refunded. Once a Driver has claimed your pickup, contact support to cancel; refunds after claim are at our reasonable discretion.

6. Drivers

Drivers must be approved before accepting jobs and must provide accurate vehicle, license, and insurance information. Drivers are solely responsible for lawful disposal of collected items, for maintaining required licenses and insurance, and for all applicable taxes on their earnings. Driver payouts are made via Stripe Connect after job completion, less the platform service fee.

7. Prohibited Items

Hazardous materials — including chemicals, asbestos, medical waste, fuels, wet paint, and anything illegal to transport or dispose of — may not be included in any pickup. Drivers may refuse and report pickups containing prohibited items without refund.

8. Disclaimers & Liability

The Services are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Grittie's aggregate liability arising out of the Services is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Grittie is not liable for the acts or omissions of Drivers or Customers.

9. Governing Law & Changes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. We may update these Terms from time to time; material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date, and continued use of the Services constitutes acceptance.
